Middlesex County

Middlesex County Massachusetts is the largest county in the state. Its population is in the vicinity of 1.5 million people. Middlesex County is comprised of 54 cities and towns. There are 12 District Courthouses in the county and two Superior Courthouses. The primary Superior Court is now in Woburn and is located at 200 Trade Center, just off of Route 128. On March 10, 2008 the courthouse moved from Cambridge to Woburn purportedly for a five year period while the state decides whether to rehab the Cambridge Courthouse or construct an entirely new building. There are approximately 180 court personnel in this building. Typically 5 or 6 criminal sessions are operating simultaneously in that building. The building is new and has an office-like feel. The environment is very sterile.

Middlesex County has another Superior Courthouse located at 360 Gorham Street in Lowell. This courthouse is very old and historic. It is an interesting place in which to try a case. The acoustics are poor yet the age of the building and its apparent history give trials a somewhat unique feeling.

The jurisdiction of the Superior Courts in Massachusetts exceeds that of the District Courts in that judges in the Superior Courts can sentence people convicted of crimes to state prison. Typically these crimes are much more severe than those prosecuted in the District Courts.

Stephen Neyman has been trying cases in the Middlesex County Superior courts since the late 1980's. He has tried everything from drug trafficking cases to homicides. Our office had defended members of violent street gangs in Lowell and throughout Middlesex County on cases charging home invasion, murder, kidnapping, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, mayhem and more. We have defended and won trials and evidentiary motions in all of these courts on all types of criminal cases. We believe as the Constitution mandates that everyone is entitled to a defense no matter how horrible the accusation might be. We have been committed to defending the rights of the accused in Massachusetts and throughout the country for over 20 years.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office is one of the best in the country. The assistant district attorneys are well trained, intelligent and tenacious. That is why it is most important that you hire a Massachusetts criminal defense attorney who is prepared to take on any prosecutor and has the record to prove that he has done so.

Our Boston office is very accessible to both Middlesex Superior Courthouses. To get to our office from Woburn, take Route 128 North to Route 93 South. Go over the Zakim Bridge into the Tip O'Neil Tunnel. Bear right at the end of the ramp. The first right is State Street and we are located less than two blocks up on the right.
